Objective 1: Fostering New Business through Sustainability
BBVA promotes the creation of new business centered on sustainability through three core growth vectors:
1. Driving personalized advisory for our clients to capture incremental business opportunities.
2. Developing differential risk management capabilities to mitigate risks while supporting business opportunities.
3. Implementing control processes to ensure the integrity and transparency of sustainable operations.
Objetive 2: Transition Plan
BBVA has defined a decarbonization strategy for portfolio alignment and has developed a management model that enables the monitoring of its decarbonization targets.
To capture the business growth potential in this area, BBVA relies on:
Sectoral Alignment Plans: To define a commercial strategy and guide growth based on the assessment of risks and business opportunities.
Evaluation of Client Transition Plans based on TRi: Utilizing specific tools integrated into the business strategy and decision-making process to assess the Transition Risk Index (TRi) of our clients.
Credit Admission Integration: Incorporating these criteria into the transaction approval process through proactive and dynamic portfolio management that evaluates the impact of every transaction.
Our internal strategy for managing direct environmental impacts is structured around three pillars:
Measurement: Calculation of energy consumption and carbon footprint.
Reduction: Minimizing environmental impact through energy efficiency initiatives, measures to reduce water and paper consumption, renewable energy sourcing, and awareness and engagement actions for employees and other stakeholders.
Offsetting: Purchasing carbon credits for Scope 1, 2, and specific Scope 3 categories (waste, business travel, and employee commuting).
